:- 3.0 out of 5 stars from The Music Man -- It's a good read, but gets more predictable the more you read... : I'm a big fan a Jonathan Stroud's Bartimeus and Lockwood & Co. series, and with great anticipation dove into The Outlaws Scarlett & Browne, and found myself immediately sucked into the new, post-apocalyptic world which Stroud has designed. His writing is as sharp and punchy as ever, and the characters he draws are all likeable, despite the fact that they're robbers and murderers. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021 )

Skimming through the rest of the pages, they all seem to be in order. This isn't just a misprint of the page numbers since the end of page 22 jumps to a different sentence on page 55. The Amulet of Smarkand being one of my favourite books, I tried to go in without being biased. I was fully prepared to accept that Bartimaeus was a one off. It wasn't. This one is different to his prior work and it did take me a few chapters to get into the story, no less enjoyable for that. I don't like giving plot spoilers in reviews - this is a well woven story with interesting characters, the interplay between the two lead characters is fun and kept me guessing.
