  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from John Jantsch -- I love books that make me stretch : There are so many great and doable exercises in this book that I'm using to not only get my team thinking more creatively but to also help us build a more creative culture. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from hhecht -- Beautiful Book, Accessible Tools for Lifelong Learners : If imagination, new ideas, and new connections bring you joy, Creative Acts for Curious People belongs on your bookshelf. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Emerita, Stanford University -- A bible for creative thinking! Be the first to own it. : The Stanford d.school may now be thought to be the crucible of creativity. Many of Silicon Valley's great ideas grew from seeds germinated in this program. This book is a treasure trove of practical wisdom and practice. Sarah Stein Greenberg has assembled a collection of strategies, games, exercises, mind-melts, and how-to's that can be used not only by designers and software engineers but also elementary school teachers, and retirees. The book itself is a thing of beauty, ingenuity and visual delight. Each of the 80 chapters is a practice, game or idea that is a stand alone.. But the sum total is a philosophy for approaching the creation of anything, including lifestyle changes that we can all benefit from. She does a wonderful thing by giving credit for each chapter to people who may have originated the idea or who became its steward. This reminds us that the creative process is a community activity and that we are all in this together. It's a brilliant gift for anyone. I really love this book. From novel approaches for finding inspiration, to innovative techniques for coming up with ideas, there's so much here that I know can help my students grow their creative confidence. I've only had the book for a couple of weeks, but I think I've already got more bookmarks in it than there are pages. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kevin M. Green -- The manual for problem-solving you didn't know you needed : (and fun!) practices for building creative muscle and unlocking new ideas, but this book really is like its own trip to the d.school. For people like me, who don't think of themselves as creative first, this stuff can be a game-changer by making it easy to get out of your own way and tap into abilities and attitudes that you didn't know you have. The narrative that Sarah Stein Greenberg weaves throughout and the awesome illustrations by Michael Hirshon are all just icing on the cake. Just get the book! • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Aron Kirschner -- Bring the Stanford d.school into your life and work with this beautiful book : Beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written, this book holds numerous exercises and assignments from the Stanford d.school. Paging through the book I can think of a way for each of these exercises to find a great place at my team offsites, leadership retreats, or otherwise in my personal life. I highly recommend getting this book and giving it a place next to other great reference / business books. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2021 )

Not only is it full to the brim of practical tools for expanding your creative practice, it is gorgeously designed and easy to pull from. As a university educator I am always looking for ways to push my students to look inward as they build their creative confidence. I think I just might make this book required reading for my class.
